Originally a 1930’s Venetian convent, Hotel Indigo Venice – Sant’Elena is a sophisticated and modern boutique hotel immersed in the peaceful oasis of the Biennale Gardens, which joins past and present and now boasts a radical renovation.
The hotel is located near two strategic places on the island: the marvelous Memorial Park, considered a rare public garden in the city given its size, and the Gothic parish church built by Augustinian monks in the 11th century, famous for its impressive bell tower.
HNH Hospitality has chosen IHG InterContinental Hotels Group, the largest multinational hospitality company in the world in terms of guest rooms – 825,000 and 5,500 hotels in over 100 countries – and its brand Hotel Indigo® as a concept to guide the restyling of Hotel Sant’Elena in Venice.
This choice was determined by the attention focused on the historical and cultural context of the structure and the strong personality that marks the Hotel Indigo® brand.
In fact, the transformation project, developed in collaboration with the architect Manuela Mannino and her firm THDP, joins the lively and detail-rich design, local experiences and a well-defined identity in order to offer guests an elegant and sophisticated product.
The restyling was inspired by history, particularly the strong tie between Venice and Byzantine culture (the city was considered the western gate to the Orient). Another important aspect that influenced the architect’s stylistic choices is the legend hidden in the neighborhood of Sant’Elena. The island, named after the Roman emperor Constantine’s mother, still guards this saint’s relics.
The Hotel Indigo Venice – Sant’Elena has five floors and offers 75 elegant rooms that have been revisited and contextualized in an eclectic, reflective and premium style, where each tiny detail becomes key decor.
Warm shades mixed with golden touches can be traced back to Byzantine color palettes and determine the unique and refined style of the rooms.
The ground floor hosts the reception, decorated by splendid lamps creating a sophisticated and harmonious atmosphere, which is ready to welcome guests from all over the world.
The reception directly leads to the Food & Beverage area, including a lounge bar and a refined restaurant attentive to the needs of hotel guests and external clients, which are open for breakfast and dinner and offer typical Venetian dishes.
The large glass windows of the Savor Restaurant Bar & Garden look out onto the internal courtyard, the cloister of the original convent: a unique location of this kind in Venice.
This vast garden offers the opportunity to relax and enjoy pleasant moments immersed in the greenery and far from the frenzy in St. Mark’s Square.
Also facing the garden on the ground floor is a conference room that is the perfect venue for business meetings and appointments, as well as other events.
“We are proud to start this new adventure in the historic center of Venice – comments Luca Boccato, CEO of HNH Hospitality – the Hotel Indigo Venice-Sant’Elena is the first IHG Hotel in the lagoon city and it was chosen for the attention paid to the historical and cultural context the structure is located in.”
Just as two neighborhoods are never the same, two Hotel Indigo® are never identical: each one is designed to uniquely reflect the local culture, the character and history of the surrounding area.
Eric Viale, Managing Director, Southern Europe, IHG, comments: “The strong growth in new openings and the pipeline of our brand Hotel Indigo reflect the positive trend in the entire boutique hotel segment, which is among the fastest growing in the sector. We have seen there is great demand for design hotels in the South European market and we are looking forward to welcoming guests from all over the world to our new Hotel Indigo Venice – Sant’Elena.”
