The H.n.H. Group has successfully completed its Energy Management project at the BEST WESTERN PLUS Quid Hotel Venice Airport and the BEST WESTERN PREMIER Hotel Sant’Elena through the implementation of an engineered energy consumption monitoring system (Smart Meter) , developed by Refeel Energy Efficiency.
The measurement of energy consumption of the Hotel’s individual production units or individual systems and appliances, which is developed on a sensors network, allows essentially to establish an accurate, realistic and detailed view of the overall electricity consumption.
The purpose behind the installation of these appliances is to identify the most energy-consumptive areas of the Hotel, to plan interventions aimed at the amelioration of the systems and to obtain real- time measurements of possible critical points and any efficiency improvement results of the same.
Moreover, monthly reports on consumption trends and identification of best practices allow the company to share the results with members of the Hotel staff and raise their awareness from the perspective of efficiency and social responsibility.
During the summer months, the Hotels where smart meters were installed recorded a significant decrease in consumption: in the month of August 2012 the BEST WESTERN PLUS Quid Hotel Venice Airport showed a 5% reduction in energy use compared to August 2011, despite an 11% increase in room sale and a consistent average monthly temperature. In the month of August 2012 the BEST WESTERN PREMIER Hotel Sant’Elena, despite a steady occupancy rate and a consistent average monthly temperature, showed an 11% decrease in electricity consumption.
