Hotel Indigo Verona: new brand and new look for the Grand Hotel Des Arts

On June 19 Hotel Indigo Verona – Grand Hotel Des Arts opens after the restyling and rebranding of the historic Grand Hotel Des Arts, recently acquired to be managed by HNH Hospitality, with a new style and the new Hotel Indigo® brand for boutique hotels in the IHG (InterContinental Hotels Group). The hotel, a point of reference for its lavish Liberty style architecture, rich collection of art works and retro ambience, has undergone a significant renovation while keeping its history and timeless charm intact.

HNH Hospitality chose IHG, one of the largest hotel chains in the world with around 5,500 hotels in over 100 countries, and its brand Hotel Indigo® as a concept to guide the restyling of the Grand Hotel des Arts. Enormous attention to the historic and cultural context of the hotel and to the strong personality that distinguishes the Hotel Indigo® brand has inspired and driven the renovation work.

The restyling project is the work of THDP-The Hickson Design Partnership, a firm specialized in architecture and interior design based in Turin and London, which skillfully balanced the new and old, successfully revealing the history and beauty of the original building and giving value to existing works of art that nod at Verona’s history. In general, the majority of the interior design is inspired by the unbreakable bond with Romeo and Juliet and the theater, starting with the Reception that actually blends the two distinctive elements of Verona: the Arena and Shakespeare’s work. The architects drew inspiration from stage design and its curtains, as well as the Arena’s arches and Juliet’s balcony.

The Lounge bar, marked by a romantic and intimate style that reproduces a large carpet of roses, is influenced by art galleries and changing theater sets blended together. Instead, the rooms are characterized by strong contrasts among the walls, while the headboards are inspired by frescoes of the Veronese countryside.  The display of the art collection drew inspiration from Carlo Scarpa’s project for the Canova Museum and Cast Gallery, which introduced wrought iron and wood for the pedestals and bases of the artworks, as well as a hexagonal layout for internal signage.

Hotel Indigo Verona – Grand Hotel Des Arts offers 62 elegant rooms of different typologies: 34 Standard rooms, 6 of which have terraces, 24 Superior rooms and 4 Suites. Elegantly revisited and decorated, the rooms sport a mix of furnishings, from contemporary to antique. The internal patio is ideal for those who want to enjoy breakfast al fresco or a cocktail immersed in this peaceful oasis. The lounge bar Arya Bar & Mixology welcomes Guests and leads them on the discovery of the excellent products and flavors of Verona, harmoniously blended with international ones. In addition, this 4-star hotel has a modular meeting space in three different rooms that can seat up to 90 people. In fact, it can be configured according to clients’ needs for meetings, conferences, seminars, and events.

Luca Boccato, CEO of HNH Hospitality Group, comments, “We are very proud to announce the renovation and reopening of the Grand Hotel Des Arts in Hotel Indigo Verona, thanks to our affiliation with IHG InterContinental Hotels Group and the Hotel Indigo brand of boutique hotels in the chain. This new opening joins art, culture and comfort at a top level and is the perfect destination for both Italian and international tourists, thanks to the attractions in Verona. In a difficult moment for our sector, we look toward the future with faith, confident that a good project in such an important location will be a success,” concludes Boccato.

Eric Viale, Managing Director, Southern Europe, IHG, declares: “With its iconic architecture and historical charm, Verona is the perfect neighbourhood for Hotel Indigo’s unique design and distinctive guest experience. Hotel Indigo Verona will be the forth location for the brand in Italy, signaling significant interest in boutique, design-led hotels in the region. Partnering once more with HNH Hospitality, we look forward to being part of the tourism recovery in Italy and welcoming guests from across the country and beyond.”
