HNH Hospitality today opens the doors of the magnificent palace in Piazza della Repubblica in Trieste, transformed into a hotel, which will operate under the brand DoubleTree by Hilton.
The Hotel is strategically located, nearby the Trieste train station and just a few steps from the famous Piazza Unità d’Italia, Trieste’s open-air “living room” facing the sea, lined with historic cafes, which have always been home to cultural entertainment and exchanges of ideas.
“We are very satisfied, commented Luca Boccato, CEO of HNH Hospitality, which runs the structure – to see this ambitious project, which we believed in from the start, become a reality. For us Trieste is a strategic city, with both business and leisure demand and great growth potential. We cannot wait to offer our hospitality to its citizens and visitors. This hotel puts our Group up another notch in the Upscale positioning, alongside the rebranding of the Hotel Indigo Venice – Sant’Elena and the acquisition of the Grand Hotel Des Arts di Verona, which will become Hotel Indigo in 2020, the year we will also extend our offer with the opening of the DoubleTree by Hilton Rome Monti.”
The Hotel has 4 floors and offers 125 elegant rooms of different typologies, designed to guarantee comfort and a warm welcome for guests, in line with the values that make the DoubleTree by Hilton brand stand out worldwide. The historic rooms have undergone meticulous renovation and restoration works, aimed at maintaining and preserving the finishing and details of the historic building.
The building, once the headquarters of the insurance company RAS-Riunione Adriatica di Sicurtà, today Allianz, founded in 1838 in the administrative center of the province, is owned by Allianz Real Estate, the Allianz Group’s strategic center for the real estate sector. The owner converted this building, designed by the architects Ruggero and Arduino Berlam between 1911 and 1913, into a hotel.
The renovation work aimed to preserve the original frescos, marbles, mosaics, fountains and fireplaces, respecting the architectural restrictions and artistic aspects, as well as harmoniously joining historic with contemporary.
Donato Saponara, head of transactions west Europe and country head for Italy, Allianz Real Estate, comments: “We are delighted to celebrate today with our partner HNH Hospitalty the revival of the historic building to a new life as the prestigious Hotel Double Tree by Hilton. The important investment for the re-development of the outstanding headquarters of RAS in Trieste fits in the wider strategy of enhancing the real estate assets of the Allianz Group, as shown by other significant investments in Trieste, where the complete refurbishment of the Allianz HQs in Largo Ugo Irneri in about to be completed, in Rome for the Marignoli Palace in downtown via del Corso, and in Milan, where the historic HQs of the Allianz Group in Corso Italia 23 is being re-developed, after the moving to the new and futuristic Allianz Tower in 2018”.
